I am beyond ashamed of being an American right now. On one hand, I'm GLAD to see the imperialist foundations of this country being completely exposed for all the world to see. On the other hand, I'm stunned by the lack of any moral compass in this administration and so MANY Americans, as well.

the world has already seen. its those of us on the inside that are now becoming aware.

I feel the same. I kinda want to see the USA go under. IS that wrong? haha. It really concerns me though that 77 (or was it 70) MILLION people voted for this. All these racists and bigots simmering all these years, going crazy that a BLACK man was president, and then a WOMAN was running! They emerged from under their rocks, intent on victory and revenge! We didn't know we were taking up their limited brain space all this time. They are pathetic! Among other negative things. Live and let live, I say!

“As commander-in-chief, I will ensure America always has the strongest, most lethal fighting force in the world.” -Kamala Harris giving her keynote at the DNC.

There are two parties to blame for US Imperialism. And yes, it's fine to want to see the USA go under.

It's a pity that, that "woman 'who' was running," didn't follow the "live and let live" mantra, that you say you abide by!

This is what “forever war” looks like after the shooting stops: people warehoused in limbo, stripped of timelines, rights, or safety, while Washington moves on. The U.S. evacuated these families, made explicit promises, then suspended the very pathways meant to protect them—leaving civilians housed on a military target as regional war looms. Calling this a humanitarian failure understates it. It’s a breach of duty, and a reminder that U.S. intervention doesn’t end when the cameras leave—it just becomes quieter, slower, and crueler.

It's so embarrassing to live in America. It's humiliating, really. We get fleeced by our government and the corporations who own them, all so this handful of "very special people" can carry out their most inhuman desires. Our work and the money we spend goes nowhere but up. Straight up to these monsters who only exist to bring suffering to the majority of humanity. I'm so sorry, to my fellow "captives" in America, perhaps more so to the rest of the world which receives the brunt of American ugliness. We're not all bad here, but this relationship between the oligarchy and the rest of us is long overdue to be terminated.

Gosh, can I plagiarize you? My sentiments exactly!

So, one cannot "sponsor" a family to come? There is no way to get them here or to, maybe, Canada?

Don't we (the USA) owe Afghani refugees more than this? They obeys our orders and evacuated as told to do, now they are held in limbo in an unsafe region with no support or recognition as potential allies. As Fran C. says, this is beyond shameful.

As the Soviet Union was in its death throes, the CIA was showing up in Afghanistan with suitcases full of cash (see Ghost Wars, by Steve Coll), and looking to get back the many rocket launchers it had gifted to the Mujahadeen. It all blew back, and yet we still find ways of doing more of the same. If you can’t see the path there is no getting back on it.

Completely agree and well said! Americans are so f*cking ignorant! we are the bullies! I hate us too! Everyone is all too ready to demonize Iranians, Iraqis, whomever. I didn't say so at the time because i would have been crucified, but when 9/11 happened, I thought, it's about time. not that innocents deserve to die, but that is what happens - the uber wealthy elites destroy everything for their gain and lowly people pay the blood price. they are the ones who deserve to die!
