The suffering described here is unbearable, and the silence of the international community is indefensible. How many times must the world witness genocide in Darfur before acting? These are not isolated atrocities — they are systematic, deliberate, and known. Solidarity without action means nothing.
We humans need a mission statement. A statement that guides our species intention as a whole. What is our intention here in this life? Until we can agree on a very simple answer to that question, we will continue on continuing into circumstances where no life can exist. Perhaps that **is** our unspoken mission statement - to destroy everything, including each other and ultimately ourselves.
What creature of self-awarded supreme intelligence fails to see the other in self, the self in other? That what happens to one does in fact happen to all? That there is no me, just as there is no you?
We willfully decline to enforce justice in a world where justice must be made, not hoped for. We sit - all of us - and permit harmers to harm, the harmed to be harmed.
