Whenever I read such human stories from Gaza, dripping with untold suffering inflicted on innocent little children, I wonder what the hell I am doing with my petty life led purely on biological terms: raise a family, do a job and provide for them. Compassion and empathy for our fellow beings is what makes us human. When did we lose the capacity for that? Have we really become so atomised and razor focused on personal gain, interpersonal relationships and all the other flummery that characterises life under capitalism that we have lost our souls? Why cant we muster the courage and the will to bring down a diabolical, evil system that thrives on suffering? Have we been so irreversibly brainwashed by "education" that we cant brook any divergence from an ideology that venerates nation states, corporate businesses, national interest driven foreign policy, war, individualism, religion and all the other assorted ideas that form the backbone of its grasping, all consuming and all devouring nature?
