This is one of the most harrowing and courageous pieces of journalism I’ve read in a long time. Rasha Abou Jalal’s account is not just a chronicle of displacement—it’s a testament to the human will to survive, to protect one’s children, and to bear witness even when the world seems indifferent. Her voice cuts through the fog of geopolitical abstraction and forces us to confront the brutal reality of what it means to be systematically uprooted. The fact that she continues to report under these conditions is an act of defiance and moral clarity. We owe her our attention, our solidarity, and our outrage.

Our hearts break daily at the devastation unfolding in Gaza. For far too long, the world has allowed Israel to carry out its campaign of destruction with impunity. Despite what our governments claim, the majority of people in the West stand with Palestine—they see the injustice, they mourn the suffering, and they reject the silence. But our political class remains beholden to powerful lobbies, and their complicity is a stain on our democracies.

When peace finally comes—and it must—justice must follow. The architects of this brutality must be held accountable for the war crimes they have committed. Your courage, your voice, and your family's resilience are a light in this darkness. I pray for your safety and dignity, and for the day when you can return home in peace.

The powerful lobbies means rich Jews worldwide. Our politicians have all been bought.

I was in tears as I read the report. It is hard to imagine the sheer horror of the family's experience. Just recognition of Palestine is not enough. We need real action! Through my sorrow runs anger at the Goverments who could do so much more. My thoughts and prayers remain with the people of Gaza.

There are no words - I’m so sorry and ashamed that my country (USA) is doing this via Apartheid israel. I wish I had power to stop these atrocities (Gaza, West Bank, Apartheid israel). This is no consolation, but I speak out about what Is happening to everyone I come in contact with and will never vote for a politician who supports israel in any way. It’s time to end Apartheid israel and Free Palestine from the River to the Sea. I think about you often. ❤️

Your beautiful family and beautiful people have done nothing to deserve such horrors and dehumanization. It breaks my heart to see this, and I know most of the world wishes they could do something - anything - to make your pain and suffering stop. I know this sounds trite, but I do pray every day for all of you. Much love.

wow

waking troubled long before dawn i checked first on you, your families and the state of Palestine...the only words worth uttering at this point is we send our love and prayers of protection to you, then shout loud and without pause at our vile governments. can Palestine ever forgive the world for its dereliction of our only and most basic duties?

I may be repeating myself from a related posting. Back in April Cara Marianna on her Winterwheat.substack.com site had an entry "Poisoning 'the Holy Land'" in which she described "the Zionists' environmental terrorism." Absolutely disgusting, I won't repeat here, check out her site for the story. She wrote this concise assessment of them, which extends beyond the environmental context to everything the Zionists do: "Imagine the consciousness, the intellectual, moral, and spiritual vacuity of such a people. Image scheming and planning how best to intimidate, bully, and brutalize another people so that you can take what is not yours. Imagine: And you then understand the full flowering of Zionism in the genocide in Gaza."

To which I gave this response:

"The Zionists are totally devoid of any concept of hell, apart from what they are putting the Palestinians through. They are also absent any sense of moral injury, being insensate to the meaning of the word 'moral'. The only things that they have in common with human beings are that they eat, drink, sleep (somehow), defecate (literally, and figuratively on everything), copulate, and reproduce (unfortunately). It is hard even to categorize them as a "life form", as they are contemptuous of life itself," and...

"Along with its complacent defecation on all that is decent and human in civilized life, the legacy of Israel and Zionism is the diminishment to the point of near oblivion of any sense of justice and hope for the rest of us."

If they ever had departments of environmental studies at their universities, the Zionists long since have shut them down and replaced them with their cutting-edge enterprises in surveillance technologies, weapons development, and "enhanced" interrogation techniques, which constitute most of their GNP and export to oppressive regimes throughout the world, as well as the U.S., the UK, and their consorts.

On 19 September 2025, in Athens, the Hind Rajab Foundation filed a war crimes complaint against Naor Shlomo Dadon, a Givati Brigade soldier who documented his role in arson, home demolitions, and the burning of a school sheltering civilians in Gaza. While Dadon now attends a Greek “healing retreat” for combat veterans, HRF urged Greece to apply universal jurisdiction and prove that Europe cannot be a sanctuary for perpetrators of genocide and war crimes.

Dr. Ghassan Abu Sitta has pointing out why it’s so important to support the hospitals. Destroying hospitals means the erasure of the population. Israel has engineered the Genocide targeting the health system to force the Palestinians to leave. iA you will back in Gaza ya Rasha.

This is what genocide looks like. There are no words that are sufficient. The courage and determination of these Palestinians is phenomenal and truly humbling. Meanwhile, here in the U.S., we consider it an admirable sacrifice to cancel a Disney streaming subscription.

Call on Pope Leo XIV to do whatever it takes to save Gaza and stop the bombing, and end the starvation. Let him go to Gaza and stand with the suffering people who are being massacred by Israel and the Western posers. He can go to Gaza right now, and insist aid be allowed in.

Is there anything more important in today's world than this?

Colombia is putting together a Uniting for Peace resolution at the UN, which allows for a UN peacekeeping force in Gaza.

People can use StopGenocide.com/unga to urge governments to back this. From Sam Husseini’s substack:

Thank you, Joy. I've signed several of your petitions, and I was already supporting Hind Rajab Foundation, but if I hadn't already heard of it, I would have started supporting them based on your posts. I hope lots of other people support them too! I appreciate you putting out so much good information.

What a sad and desperate description of the lives that Palestinians have to endure. It is awful. It is unacceptable and heartbreaking. Her testimony is so important to alert us about what is happening and yet the terrible reality is that those who have the power to stop it do not act. It is an awful stain on our humanity.
