Sina Azodi addressed the "rescue operation" and raised the point that for a rescue operation there was a very large force, heavily armed. From my perspective, rescue operations typically consist of as few personnel and resources as necessary to accomplish the rescue. They are lightweight, low-profile operations by nature. I've been curious about a specific element in this operation: the presence, and ultimately, the destruction of two C130 cargo planes at the "site". Why are cargo planes involved in a single-person rescue operation?
