Clearly fits what Israeli historian Ilan Pappe says: genocide that's a continuation of 1948. The difference here is that these aren't reluctant Holocaust survivors who were convinced by their superiors. But they're mirrors of Hitlers soldiers just following orders.

It's weird tapping "like" regarding this article. I'm sick at heart every day by the insane plans and horrific actions of Israel. They are participating in the destruction of a people (genocide) and spreading violence to all sick, greedy, stupid leaders and consenting peoples of the world.Possibly precipitating the end of time for all living beings. It's tragic. A nightmare of epic proportions. Especially the countries, governments, leaders, and usual "legacy" media and journalists who ignore or or encourage and celebrate this travesty.

Horrific shit show

We have to keep trying to stop our politicians that are actively participating in genocide, whilst burning international law. A hospital and yesterday an aid lorry in Sudan were attacked. Our government is partly responsible. Our government has been in breach of the ICJ since it ruled this, a potential genocide. This is a binding instruction to the world's governments. They are not following the Genocide Act which you sign when you join the UN. It seems no law matters in Starmer and Lammy's mass murdering mindset.

They are breaking the law, deliberately lying about the law.

Pretending they are not breaking the laws they are obviously breaking

And taking the British public as fools

Lying, obfuscation and misleading is a crime

They are actively participating in this genocide.

That is as serious a crime as the acts of genocide being carried out by Netanyahu.

Starmer and Lammy should be jailed for the rest of their lives.

They are dangerous mass murderers and enablers of torture and child abuse

They are sick in the head and dangerous criminals who we need to be protected from because when will they kill people here that they don't like.

This must never be normalised,

Our politicians need a high security mental prison/hospital.

Why should they ever walk free

They have destroyed so much because they are antisemites.

That is what zionists are. They are the biggest anti semites of all. Zionism is fascism.

Let's kick the fascists out.

18 U.S. Code § 1091

We need to get the current administration, along with the entire Biden administration, charged under 18 U.S. Code § 1091, the statute that incorporates the Genocide Convention into US criminal law. Members of these administrations shouldn't go a single day without having this statute in their faces, up front and center, at every protest, at every meeting, press conference, briefing, and trips home and abroad. Let them consider what is looming. They should have visions of prison all the days of their lives, and echos of those cell doors slamming shut.

Let us find the way.

After 1½ years of this inhumanly sadistic extermination of innocents, who is left who can still deny that what preceded this was slower-moving, but was ALWAYS a wholly malevolent, entirely indefensible, genocidal annexation of Palestine?

Israel — not as a fairy-tale, not as an ideal, not as a denialist's dream, but as it actually is — should not exist.

Gaza should have been a place where Palestinians could rebuild their lives and it would have been had Hamas devoted its efforts toward building the economy and creating opportunities for the people living under its administration. Instead, Hamas spent $1,000,000,000 building an extensive network of terror tunnels, deeply imbedded amidst the populace (munitions buried in hospital parking lots and near "safe" areas where Gazans were living following IDF evacuation orders; command centers under UNRWA buildings and hospitals; businesses and homes connected to tunnels; "innocent civilians" holding hostages in their homes. To get a perspective other than what is presented by Drop Site, look at the writings of Major John Spencer, Colonel Richard Kemp, and Khaled Abu Toameh.

I suggest you look at the recent commentary by Bassam Tawil. He asked, What do the Palestinians want? HIs conclusion: Palestinians seek the destruction of Israel rather than building a state of their own.

Hamas has vowed to inflivt 1,000 October 7's on Israelis. Palestinians cheered that vow. Israel is fighting to ensure that Hamas will not be able to fulfill its vow.

You don't have to believe me. Check what Major John Spencer has said. He is the head of Urban Warfare Studies in West Point's Modern Warfare Institute and has stated, on X (formerly Twitter) that Hamas has gone beyond using Gazans as human shields and is using them as human sacrifices. Bassam Tawil, whose writings indicate that he is an Arab living somewhere in the Middle East (I presume because it is not safe for him to have his address known) notes that the "Palestinian cause" is not so much building a state in which Palestinians could become productive citizen as it is the destruction of the nation-state of the Jews.

Most people here probably were at some point where you are, or at least somewhat supportive of Israel in the past. That was the default position for anyone in the West. Many scholarly studies have been done that refute the Israeli narrative, but it seems you have cherry-picked the sources that confirm what you already believe.

There are plenty of truthful narratives that counter the false one you are posting here, not the least is the fact that Gaza completely cut off, with all entry points under Israeli control, armed control. No one builds an economy under such conditions as Gaza was described as, "an open-air prison," and that was said by no less of a Zionist than David Cameron.

Laurie: Please consider the history of the Jews. The vast majority lived as despised strangers in Europe and the Middle East. They suffered multiple expulsions, rebuilding new lives and contributing to new societies until they were expelled again. They never forgot their past, praying frequently and fervently for the return to Zion (in Hebrew, a language they retained for prayer and religous study over millenia) but they didn't wallow in self-pity. The Palestinians would do well to take a page from the Jewish book of not only surviving but thriving under very difficult circumstances.

I have to admit that I have never heard of David Cameron. Perhaps you can send me a link to an article he has published.

Don't you find it odd that "being cutoff" didn't prevent Hamas from building its network of terror tunnels? John Spencer estimates that it cost a billion dollars to do so. And Israel wouldn't have "cut off" access to Gaza if Hamas hadn't been attacking Israel. Hamas can't claim to be a helpless victim of Israeli "aggression" or suppression while it's firing missiles at Israeli population centers.

International law permits people under occupation to resist, including by armed resistance. Not knowing who David Cameron is does suggest that you might need to do more serious studying of the current situation, including some history of the area, as well as knowing who were the players involved inside the various governments that have brought us to this current massacre.

That is, if you are interested in the truth, rather than, as now, merely repeating prepared talking points from one side of this issue. The indoctrination and propaganda onslaught has been unremitting. It’s no shame to have grown up believing it. It is, however, when one fails to do their due diligence to seek out the verifiable facts.

Ilan Pappe’s “Ten Myths About Israel,” is a good place to start.

He is an Israeli scholar who in the course of his research discovered that the stories and history he had been told all his life were lies. Some are able to accept the truth and go where that takes them. Others cannot. Which are you?

Toby Block's avatar

Instead of chatizing me for not having heard of David Cameron, why didn’t you send me a link to one of his works (as I suggested), I am aware of the writings of Ilan Pappe. Israel is a free society with people holding a wide variety of ideas and free to express them openly. You can’t say that for people living under Hamas or PA (mis)administration.

As for David Cameron, try google, anyone with an interest in knowing more about the world, and the people who have played important roles in it, whether despicable, or not, would do that. Preferring to have information handed to one are not the words of a thoughtful person.

That's fine to have many opinions in a society, but opinions are not facts, and don't trump facts. Having most believe in false information just makes it more difficult for everyone to find out what is true.

Knowing of Pappe, and having read him, are two very different things.

Toby Block's avatar

Excuse me. I read Pappe many years ago and did not find his arguments convincing. Just today, I GOOGLE'd David Cameron and found the speech in which he said that he is a Zionist and that he supports Israel's right to exist. I am sure Israel is grateful for his support and remains so even if he is critical of current fighting in Gaza. Nothing that I read suggested that Mr. Cameron has any experience in the military. So, on the question of whether or not Israel is obeying the rules of armed conflict in Gaza, I will take the words of military experts -- Major John Spencer and Colonel Richard Kemp who have praised Israel's efforts to avoid hurting civilians and who have condemned Hamas for putting Gazans in danger.

Not with the extrordinary number of children murdered. FFS

Who would seek safety near a child.? They'd hit the child first

They've murder children by the tens of thousands.

No Palestinian would trust the IDF not to kill their kid, They are cowards man FFS

It is well known that casualty counts from Hamas' Ministry of Health are unreliable. Each report is accompanied by the disclaimer: HMH does not distinguish between civilians and combatants. What isn't said is that Hamas runs summer camps for children where they are provided with weapons and taught to use them. What also goes unmentioned is that Palestinian school books teach Jew-hatred and Palestinian television shows encourage kindergartners to seek martyr by killing Jews. HMH classifies anyone under the age of 19 as a child. And statisticians have noted that the HMH reports which always assert that most of the casualties were women and children are highly suspect, essentially claiming that there are no adult males in Gaza. As for cowardly murderers, the Bibas toddlers were beaten to death by Hamas murderers.

Trump, as the US president, has allowed Israel to commit genocide in Gaza with impunity.

He meets with the leaders of Saudi Arabia, Yemen, etc. and comes home with a multi billion dollar private plane for himself.

Israel's Smotrich brags "we are dismantling Gaza-----and the world hasn't stopped us".

What kind of world is this?

New hunger strike action from CUNY. Eight students, staff, and faculty from across the City University of New York system started an indefinite hunger strike on Tuesday, May 27th. They have one demand: that CUNY Chancellor Félix Matos Rodríguez and the CUNY Board of Trustees immediately divest from Israel and from all weapons and technology manufacturers equipping the Israeli-U.S. genocide in Palestine.

They are using the hunger strike to raise funds “to send urgent funds to people in Gaza for food and other needed materials.”

Thanks to everyone who donated, they reached their fundraising goal of $20,000, and have launched a new one.
