SO the NYT spokesman says this about their journalists mentoring a pro-Israel group: “It’s ridiculous to suggest participation as a mentor in this fellowship is anything other than helping to build the reporting skills necessary for the next generation of independent journalists.”

All we have to do is try the shoe on the other foot and see if it fits: If a pro-Palestinian group, say the Electronic Intifada, asked NYT journalists to mentor young journalists to counter Israeli misinformation, would the NYT say the same thing?

no, but that's because the nyt has always been a pro-israeli, pro-war, anti-Muslim rag of a publication.

wish I could say that this is surprising. sadly, it's been obvious that they, along with too many others in the US and all over the "west" are israeli mouthpieces and have been for years!

The mainstream "16" must know that they are joining a fellowship that has a rich tradition of assassinating Middle Eastern cohorts. To date, the State of Israel's "Information War" has forever silenced the voices of 300 journalists.

I have been studying this since oct 7....Not from The NY Times that I have subscribed to for 50 years. I have considered dropping it but it would feel like an amputation. So, I read past the front page into fashion, design, book reviews, arts, etc.

No CNN, ABC, NBC, even PBS that I pay for. I'm in Mexico so no US cable crap. I subscribe to the Atlantic but am very suspicious of some articles.

I am learning from Youtube independent experts. And, substacks. And, books like "Gaza"..and now: An Army Like No Other: How the Israel Defense Forces Made a Nation

by Haim Bresheeth

As far as I'm concerned: There is NO narrative in Israel's favor. They do NOT have a right to that country. They have been monsters from the start and only get worse. They have topped the Nazis. The Nazis didn't brag about their "solution". They carried on in an efficient way. The IDF are sadistic. The Jewish population supports them.

It's a cancer supporting fascism in the United States.

the only point of disagreement, i don't think "the Jewish population" supports Israel. Most western Jewish folks, maybe... even that is becoming more of a 50/50 thing.

But there are huge populations of anti-zionist Jewish people all over the world. Look up Iranian Jewish people.

Also... be very very wary of the Atlantic. they're maybe barely socially liberal, but economically conservative. I've noticed this for decades (also DNS just ran article on their editor or something writing speeches for members of the Israeli government).

The Jewish population, 90-98%, in Israel supports the genocide. They have been taught since birth to hate these people. Amalek....even the babies.

There used to be many thousands of Jews in Iran but the Zionists got them out, one way or another. There are now about 15,000 who are protected by Iranian law. And, one temple..or maybe 2. Jews are safer, by far, in Tehran than in Israel.

I am suspicious of all the main media.

The NY Times published just recently an article by some expert, a rabid Zionist....(I should have noted his name) I couldn't believe it.

The comments after Oct7, for at least a year, were obviously Zionist leaning subscribers. "Hamas, that committed atrocities, just has to give up the hostages, or give themselves up and then peace will come."

If I made a comment, it didn't get published.

The zionists can't handle the truth. They have controled US news for decades. Now that the truth leaks out they are crying. They can't hide the slaughter of over 20,000 Palestinian children.

Well written and developed article, Sharif. One that should be read and considered by Jackie Karsh, to become more knowledgeable about what constitutes good journalism.

Unfortunately, legacy journalists are all ( most of them ) sellout. I would not even consider them as journalists anymore. They are disgrace to their profession. They have showed their true picture.

I think Jacki Karsh forever destroyed any credibility with this statement:

"the IDF is the most moral army in the world."

I'll let the world decide if I'm on the mark here.

Charlie Stadtlander isn’t lying at least. To him and those in the mainstream media, an unwavering commitment to upholding Israel’s perception is the essential requirement for any aspiring journalist. To any rational person this is insane and unpalatable, but it’s just standard practice for those cruel, heartless creatures

Sharif, Thank you for this report. Very well written on a subject that needs to be discussed. There are many people like Jacki Jarsh unfortunately. I am never sure if they believe what they are saying or if they are out and out lying. I don't know how they live with themselves.

Hey Jackie, even Moshe Ya’alon israel's former defense minister and former chief of staff would not apologize for accusing Israel of carrying out ethnic cleansing and war crimes in Gaza and stating that the IDF is NOT the most moral army in the world! Get your story straight sweetheart because you sound like an ignorant fool. I wouldn't trust a word you write!
