This is more Democratic Party corruption posing a progressive election reform. One more reason I will no longer support Democratic candidates with online donations unless I know that it comes directly from the campaign.

Thanks for the article. Helps give needed direction to us that want to root out the corruption in the Democratic Party. Special interest control from groups like AIPAC is destroying American society and creating a very corrupt system.

Maine's Graham Platner - running for Senate - feels like more of an antidote.

Ryan, thanks for the info on Progressive Turnout Project. About 18 months ago, I somehow got on their mailing list. In a 2-month period, I was buried by an avalanch of over 400 of the most moronic emails promising planetary level extinction if I didn't "PROMISE" to vote for Biden. I called their offices (never got a real person). Trump could not have ceated a more effctive way to drive away Democratic voters.

When you have to choose between corruption/stupid/spineless or corruption/ugly, it is simply time to walk away. My vote can’t fix what is totally broken, and the participants in “the game” won’t allow it to be fixed. It’s a part of the human condition, and coming down from the trees hasn’t improved things all that much.

Wesley Bell’s comment about taking AIPAC money is somewhat reminiscent of Lance Armstrong’s attitude on doping: (I paraphrase) “you have to do it, ‘cause if you don’t, the riders that do will beat you”. So much for rectitude. Oh, silly me; I forgot that we were speaking of politicians.

Did I get you right? James Tallarico supports Israel and is backed by Marianne Adelson at this point in the genocide? I’m really disillusioned because I kinda liked the guy.

Thank you for this, Ryan. I stopped giving money to politicians long ago when it became obvious to me that a seat in Congress was nothing more than a get rich quick scheme/scam. I have contended that the Citizens United decision was among the most impactful in recent U.S. history. Even more impactful than Dobbs.

My dad said in 1960 that all politicians are crooks. As a naive college student at the time, I argued with him. It didn’t take me long to realize that he was right. We can’t vote our way out of systemic corruption.

If we don't want to support Mothership PACS, how do we know the identity of their PACS? Will the DNC list those guilty of low returns for their "consultation" fees?

What most people do to not get scammed is simply do not give to PACs that aren't connected to a candidate. If you want to support a candidate, give directly to the candidate's PAC.

This is why I registered as no party preference out here in California not long ago. The party system is corrupt.

I think what Ryan Grim said in response to an earlier comment is that if you like a candidate, give directly to that candidate. These PACs are often corrupt. But there are still good candidates. Have a look at Graham Platner who is running against Jordan Wood in the democratic primary to run against Susan Collins.
