"We do not want to see a humanitarian crisis, and we will not allow it to occur on President Trump’s watch.”

That statement from Witkoff turns logic and common sense on its head: One can't be the prime arsonist and also the firefighter.

Much respect Safir...agreed! But some try! Witkoff can't be trusted...he's a part of it...a wolf in sheep's clothing. He just looks a more plausible liar than the others...Imagine that Netanyahu actually said "this is a war of civilisation against barbarism"...you would think the words would burn his throat!

They don't mind the murdering and maiming and deliberate starvation of innocent civilians but don't want the world to see images of it. I sincerely look forward to the death of Netanyahu and Trump and all the rotten underlings...including Starmer, Lammy, and all those responsible for this long-standing injustice to the noble and persecuted Palestinian people. As an aside, it would be excellent if many more countries followed the wisdom of the Maldives and banned Israeli tourism...unless they declared a pro-Palestinian stance...you know with face-recognition, multiple check-points, interrogations to make sure they are not terrorists! Total surveillance and potential detention in the hours between midnight and dawn.

hear, hear! ...and let us not forget to include the entire Biden administration as well (in other words, the administration that actually began this genocide!... well, the genocide actually started a few decades ago)

Don’t worry. Whatever these animals are doing to Gaza and Palestine , depriving their basic human rights and destroying their livelihood, same or even worse will happen to Israel and those helping them in Genocide. This is the Rule of Nature.

That is not a comfort to those living with such terror. We need to be figuring out how to make a world where such ideas, where retribution, hatred, supremacy are all something in the past that no one even imagines is possible. That is the only way our species will survive. I do not want to see anything like what is happening to the Palestinians to ever happen to anyone again, for any reason. Never again is for everyone one.

Hunger Strike!

Students and faculty at Stanford University announce they are joining the nationwide campus hunger strike movement to protest attacks on academic freedom and complicity in the Gaza genocide.

If ever there was a moment that demands civil disobedience, it is the hour of genocide.

You can read more about this moral stance here:

An urgent ask from Stanford SJP is to sign and circulate the Drop the Charges petition https://actionnetwork.org/forms/supportstanford12?source=direct_link& which demands that the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office drop the felony charges brought against twelve Stanford University students and alumni following their participation in a protest advocating for Stanford’s divestment from corporations implicated in the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

We call on the newly elected, American Pope Leo XIV to do whatever it takes to save Gaza and stop the bombing, and end the starvation. Let him go to Gaza and stand with the suffering people who are being massacred by Israel and the Western posers. Is there anything more important in today's world than this?

Please sign the petition and share widely.

I would be extremely leery if I was the Pope, going into Gaza. Israel can't be trusted to NOT assassinate him and claim Hamas did it.

Joy in HK fiFP's avatar

Absolutely. It's up to him to make that calculation. But, to ask that question, "What would Jesus do," might give an answer that says "The cautious path that fails to stand with the suffering, is not Christ's path."

In 2024, DAWN urged the ICC prosecutor to investigate and prosecute former President Biden, State Secretary Blinken and Defense Secretary Austin for their personal roles in aiding and abetting Israeli war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide in Gaza as part of his ongoing investigation into the situations in Palestine since 2014.

https://dawnmena.org/latest/

Let’s give them our support. Maybe they will expand their complaint to include this latest US administration, and include all the leaders of the western nations supporting this genocide.

Hi Jon...The Israeli historian Illan Pappe wrote "most Zionists don't believe in God but believe He gave them the land"....Personally I don't mind what people believe as long as it is decent and humane...and I must "add respects Nature." The two usually go together.

I agree that Religion in general these days is abused to feed Tribalism and division. It is far too political and far too lacking in Spirituality.

Netanyahu is considered more a tactician than a strategist. West Asia kabuki theatre is currently at its highest. Trump does his widely publized "deal-based" tour of SA, UAE and Quatar (with a shout out to Syrian head) - all deals appearing high stakes, but surrounded by fuzzy logic in detail. Western press cacophony leaves out the context - China is SA's largest trading partner; SA moving to BRICS membership; Bin Salman has made several high profile trips to Beijing. UAE also has high level trade, energy deals as well as Belt and Road Initiate projects. Same for Quatar. Irrespective of the cacophony of USUKEU presstitutes that Trump has restored their allegiance to US, the Gaza genocide has realigned their sotte voce allegiances to the global south. Kabuki is a well learned gambit in West Asia for obvious reasons. This does not make Israel any safer... Finally, USUKIS have expended exceptional and in some cases virtually irreplaceable resources on the tiny plot that is Gaza - treasure (trillions), armaments (shown by Ansarallah and Pakistan to be third rate) and blood (Israeli losses are far beyond those declared). Israel is overstreched, and ill prepared - as is the US - for any dustup with Iran, dedollarization, sanctions, et. al. But most important with the Trump and Witkoff hostage maneuver, both countries are shown to be consummate liars, untrustworthy and agreement incapable at any level. This reputational immolation jeopardizes the security of both the US and Israel more than loss of armed conflict and will echo across ten's of years as the Global South, Russia, China and Iran become even further integrataed.

I think I follow Gehenna but you sound more knowledgeable than me. Are you saying that the US/Israel alliance is conciliating the latent powers of the global South? Good.

A new institute is being launched for the study of Christian Zionism

This is an important topic, given the numbers and strength of the support Israel receives from these people and organizations .See what they are doing, and support them if you think this is a valuable thing to be doing at this time.
