RE: the Paramount/Warners purchase. I used to think there was nothing worse than a arrogant, psychopathic billionaire. Silly me. Of course, there's something worse - it's a whole bleeding family of arrogant, psychopathic billionaires!
"U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk said Thursday more than two and a half times the number of civilians were killed in Sudan in 2025 compared with the previous year with thousands still missing or unidentified. “This war is ugly. It’s bloody. And it’s senseless,” Türk said during a human rights council session in Geneva. **“If much of the international community continues to act as a passive bystander, then something is fundamentally wrong with our collective moral compass.”**"
I couldn't agree more. I would clarify, however. And that clarification is this: "Our" must be understood as "the global ruling class". It is more precise. It leaves no ambiguity. I'll revise the quote right here, so we can all read a more accurate version:
-If much of the international community continues to act as a passive bystander, then something is fundamentally wrong with the global ruling class' collective moral compass.-
That's better. It immediately makes more sense.
Also, a big round of applause to the UAE for making this horror possible. Just one more concentration of individual psychopaths hiding behind life-snuffing corporations, behind rogue nations, behind strategic global partnerships, behind proxies, behind proxies, behind proxies...
