Oh what a tangled web we weave..... Thanks for this post and for the research that went into it.

This is a good analysis and summary of the tortured relationship we have with Pakistan.

Unfortunately, the only truly democratic, transparent, and honest leader Pakistan ever had was Imran Khan -- and Biden abandoned him because Imran wanted Pakistan to be independent, not a stooge of America.

Let's hope Trump can help Imran Khan's release.

Something tells me that the ruling elites’ interest to remain in power trumps (pun intended) the president’s request. Imran Khan is too popular to be released and would unlikely stay out of politics. Keeping him locked up is about self preservation for the regime at this point.

Thank you for keeping the issue of Imran Khan alive. I hope justice prevails and Khan is released and can be active in politics again.

Has Pakistan abandoned the neutral stance that Khan wanted to maintain regarding Ukraine? I recall that the US-NATO side wanted material military support from Pakistan. Has that happened since the removal of Khan?

Ryan, highly respect your generalism, but this news seems to be have fed (prob fake), as there is pressure on current regime from Pakistani diaspora however regime has its own interests for which paki generals are willing to do anything to give & fulfill, proof of it is, since the meeting atrocities on Imran Khan, his supporters, his sisters have gone up, even his sons can't talk to Imran Khan and their statement came few days after the meeting, hence current administration wanted to 'check in the box' that we have asked Asim Munir to do something about Imran Khan, but it seems to not be true fact based on ground realities. If story was true, the paki generals behavior would have changed 180 degrees

I don't think there is any validity to this story. If Trump tells Failed Marshal Asim Munir to resolve issues with Imran Khan, he would have done it. Failed Marshal would never say no to the President. Trump is more interested in business deals with Failed Marshal than anything else.
