Senior Hamas official Basem Naim: "It is clear that Netanyahu [is] searching for new justifications to continue the aggression against Gaza and resume the war."
Why should Hamas or Palestinians turn weapons over to those that continue to kill Palestinains daily? Stop the bombing and further destruction of the West Bank by armies and Settler violence (disarm them!) and then talk about weapons and real ceasfires that include NO weapons for anyone but the International Peacekeepers with Monitoring of violence by Inrernational Observers. Let all who violate the ceasefire be mandated to give up all their weapons, starting with Isreali Settlers and soldiers and only with immediate cessation of drone attacks and long-distance bombing, and disarm all boarder and checkpoint guards. People and groups can solve problems and increasing encroachments other than with weapons small or large. While at it, Israel needs to stop bombing neighbor nations and border areas that belong to other nations. NOW!
Too TRUE for both groups which is why it is especially important that the International community step in to assure peace and humanitarian aide and begin serious and significant economic boycotts of Israel and those companies in USA and all other nations that support both the Isreali and USA economies.
Leveling the playing field ( literally) may not help much but think of economic boycotts of USA buisnesses by their consumers. One month long boycotts - no one buys a new phone, gets noticed. We must honor walk-outs and buying small, directly from farmers if possible, througn farmers markets and community gardens. Our international community can be a multi-neighbor swap meet and food support systems if there are many gardens this spring in backyards across the USA. People well informed is the beginning. Watch PBS for accurate reporting that can be viewed in all parts of the USA and Alaska. Strategize on ways to show corporations you work for that they are losing with the waste of tax dollars on ICE and the military. Start by weekly "leave early and arrive late" walkouts and work slowdows on the job. If you work for a large corp. they have lobbyiests and they need to ask for HealthCare for all to benefit employer and employees.
I am someone who pays attention. I also am from a migrant family and married to migrant spouses and am surrounded by those from other places my whole life. I know the history of how my family was helped by those from other countries and how they helped others in return. This is the story across the globe and will continue to be true in the USA and outside it.
I think Netanyahu just low-key admitted to using the Hannibal Directive:
Netanyahu said in a speech… “There are practically no heavy weapons in Gaza. There’s no artillery, there are no tanks, there’s nothing. The heavy weapon, the one that does the most damage, is called an AK-47, okay, that’s it… That’s what they used in the massacre of October 7”
So all those smashed, burned-out cars, the bombed out house in kibbutz Be'eri…?
He and all those IDF should burn in hell. They won't. No consequences for those "Holocaust survivors". Complete impunity for crimes against humanity...right now people in that country are starving. But, who cares, right?
They also did NOT give a damn for the hostages. We could see that when they started bombing Gaza on Oct 7...Day ONE!
I said, "Wait a fking minute, aren't their people in there?"
Jews do NOT deserve their own country. Get OUT of Palestine!!!
And, Amerika, ruination on you, my country. Billions for bombs. Now Iran: I'm looking forward to those smart Iranians bombing Israel to smithereens.. ..just sorry for Palestinians who have suffered for 100+ years.
Once again, everything is to be subsumed to the illegitimate, genocidal entity and the invasive species that is destroying all human, animal, and plant life in Palestine. I should set up a business selling toilet paper with the Israeli flag printed on each sheet, called Zio-Wipes, all profits going to the Palestinians.
Interesting point, and disturbing, too. Speaks to a certain psychopathology, the sense - the self-indulgence - of ever-present victimhood. For those that practice that, where would they be in life without it, what raison d'etre would they have?
"......which way to go????"
Dunno, I ask the same. How does one reconcile the deep humanism on the one hand with the depravity, at least equal in extent, more likely beyond, on the other? Makes no sense.
Thanks for this. See also my riposte to the guy with the long comment. Further thanks for the Kovel references, I think you may have passed them along previously, I started reading the background narrative, put it aside and unfortunately forgot about until now. It’s essential material.
well, it's always good to hear from and communicate with like minded sane people...although my sanity which had been well tested may be going off ....although I doubt it. Other's will though.
This is an INSANE time we have here and probably will have forever and get worse.
Glad to be 86! Leaving before the whole world looks like, is like Gaza.
BTW: it's just one Joel Kovel. He is the most recent on the site; there many others. Quite an education and a few really forthright old rabbis and I get a kick out of: Rabbi Dinnerstein! what a guy! A Great NYC Jew. I am a former Nnew Yorker and it iS Jewtown. many Jews that are wonderful and many who will pick your pockets IE: bank accounts.
This a site I just found chock full of shocking truths. (hard to get any truths in corp. media)
Zionists thrive on, and encourage in many ways: antisemitism. they even go so far as to secretly paint swastikas on Temples or in dorm hallways or their door!, to show how abused they are.
How can we make zionist communities unlivable? There are many lovers of Palestine living in New York City. We could nonviolently turn zionist places Saturdays into demos. Maybe noise demos outside the ten most criminal targets? Loudly singing and chanting, drums and pots, encouraging cars driving by to beep. Loudly demanding a free Palestine from the river to the sea, etc.
All peaceful means of defence against Israel's brutality have met with armed violence. They are asking the victims to give up their arms not the aggressor /perpetrator... Outrageous. That is suicide.
This effort is prompted by two things. The first is the genocide in Gaza; the second is the proposal put forth by the Trump Administration to rebuild Gaza as a real estate development with literally no reference to the Palestinians. These events underscore the fact that the world is now run by a lawless oligarchy that has officially abandonned international law and, in the voice of Steven Miller, proudly proclaims the fact.
There is only one path out of the catastrophe that the planet has sleepwalked into as the United Nations has effectively looked the other way. There are more of us than there are of them. The question is how to mobilize those numbers.
The goal of this proposal is the establishment of an entity of undetermined form in the territory that can be referred to as Israel/Palestine. That entity, in whatever form it takes, will be democratic and its laws and government will treat all of the people living there as equals.
A Blueprint for Peace in Israel-Palestine by Omer-Man and Whitson sets out a mechanism by which the above-stated goals can be met. It is assumed that the current government of Israel and its allies, most notably the United States, will not voluntarily take the steps outlined in the The Blueprint. Further, no government or individual that has aided or abetted in any way the genocide to which the Palestinian people have been subjected, should be allowed to be a part of the rebuilding of Israel/Palestine. To ensure that these goals are met, the world’s great numbers must demonstrate their power.
The consequences of failing to follow the path outlined here are unbearable to conceive of. What will those consequences be if the forces of oligarchy are allowed to achieve their vision?
Israel will be permitted to continue to exist as a lawless, murderous apartheid state. Palestinians, five million of whom live in Israel outside of Gaza, will continue their lives of oppression and degradation at the hands of a police state.
Palestinians living in Gaza, having already had 90 % of their homes destroyed will be forced to live elsewhere while the Trump Peace Board seeks to make Gaza into a dreamlike seaside resort for the benefit of those who can afford it. Remembered in this regard must be the fact that the plans articulated for Gaza do not include the word “Palestinians.”
No mention has yet to be made of any efforts to create a prosperous home for the two million Palestinians trying to survive in Gaza right now.
The situation as envisioned by the oligarch planners guarantees one thing for certain: there will never be a peaceful existence in Israel. Eighty years of Palestinian resistance have proven that there is no end to the Palestinian desire for freedom or the Palestinian willingness and commitment to fight, in any way they are able. In addition, the lack of humanity demonstrated by the genocide and to be demonstrated if the present plans are instituted will make the export of violence to Israel from around the world a certainty.
Further, each measure taken to execute the plan will be additional affronts to the dignity of all peoples and more inspiration to violence against Israel and Israelis.
Therefore, the only power known to the world capable of stopping what is planned for Israel/Palestine is the power of the masses.
The proposed mechanism of coercion to put an end to the disaster is the boycott.
This proposal envisions a Peace Conference to be attended by an extremely limited number of religious and political leaders from around the world. The qualifications for attendance should be the absence of any activity abetting the genocide, a demonstrated committment to peace and justice, and an umblemished notoriety for decency and the quality of leadership. As examples, the Pope, the Dalai Lama, and Bernie Sanders are suggested with no more than 10 others with the same characteristics. The Pope should be the convening authority.
At the conference, the participants shall agree upon a straight forward statement outlining the notions contained in this document. A timeline for the implementation of the Blueprint shall be set out and initiation of a worldwide boycott of Israel in the case of the failure to act established.
The goal of this proposal is a just Israel/Palestine. Recognition of the profoundly racist nature of a great majority of Israelis is essential. The Peace Conference should petition the United Nations to act as it should have been acting for as long as the Palestinians have lived under Israeli oppression. That petition should include the possibility of the use of force to prevent the activities that the Oligarch planners have outlined, and to oversee the dictates of the Blueprint.
“The goal of this proposal is a just Israel/Palestine.”
Not just practically, but more to the point, conceptually impossible. There is simply no restitution, no restoration, no reparation, no way that the depths that the Israelis/Zionists have reached in their treatment of the Palestinians for over a century now can ever be balanced out; instead they have indelibly marked the human record with their depravity, that is their legacy.
The closest approximation to justice, yet still far from total, would call for all borders of present day Israel be negated, with the entire geographic area known as Israel to revert to the Palestinians; the illegitimacy of “the Jewish state” to be acknowledged by its delisting and unrecognition as a political entity worldwide from here on out; that all erstwhile Israeli state assets be turned over to the Palestinians; three-quarters of all Israeli personal assets be turned over to the Palestinians; that 5% of the population of the reconstituted Palestine consist of Jews, equivalent to the number in 1882, all others seeking to remain would have to apply to the Palestinian authorities for citizenship, those denied plus all others not seeking citizenship would need to emigrate, mostly back to their Ashkenazi countries of ancestral origin; finally, Israeli documents and other records would be archived for future historical research, and representative artifacts of the Zionist project would be retained as museum pieces, though more along the lines of keeping the last examples of the smallpox virus than for display.
This stands about as much practical coming to be as the proposal for “a just Israel/Palestine,” though much further along on the spectrum to a semblance of actual justice.
The best I can come up with to correct history. If people can grasp it, its fundamental rightness, then the rollback of hasbara and the vile project which spawned it can commence.
He also photographed Jews in Israel and as a result his work was rejected. We can guess why.
So, he decided to study antisemitism...15 years ago.....1 year interviewing 40+ rabbis, scholars, authors. Brilliant work . essential to understand better (or, at all) the Jews.
Finally, it is on youtube ....It's like getting a Master course in material hidden from those not Jewish.
Here's the thing. Trump and Netanyahu keep insisting that Hamas disarm. Hamas should say blatantly. That this is ridiculous. Israel is the one who should disarm. They are the ones that have killed 70,000 people, largely civilians and women and children, and perhaps 600 even since the ceasefire. Israel keeps talking about the threat from Oct 7; the real threat is Israel and it is on-going. The killing and destruction have not stopped. Israel needs to totally disarm now and stop the illegal occupation and killing and Hamas should insist that the international community demand this. They should demand that if Israel does not do this the international community has an obligation to Palestine to take sufficient action to stop it - whatever it takes. If the UN does not stop the slaughter and genocide then they will all be complicit in mass murder and should all be tried accordingly but starting with Trump and netanyahu and both of their cabinets. So be it.
This is the MOST resistent peoples ever. Against all odds.
Who cares?: Lebanon, Yemen, Iran...so they must be destroyed!
Hitler never had it this good. Hitler had to kill himself. Please scumbag Natanenyohu: Kill yourself!
People in Germany, maybe 20% knew about the concentration camps but they were hated for decades. Some still hate them. Norman Finkelstein said his mother who was in 4 death/labor camps didn't hate the Nazis, she hated the Germans.
What’s striking here isn’t that Hamas refuses unilateral disarmament — it’s that “disarmament first, rights later” is being presented as a serious peace formula. Historically, no occupied or besieged population has surrendered all leverage before a political settlement is secured. Even the Oslo Accords were structured around phased reciprocity, however flawed their implementation turned out to be.
If Israel retains freedom of military action in Gaza, continues restricting aid and movement, and refuses to define a credible path to Palestinian sovereignty, then “total demilitarization” functions less as a security arrangement and more as a demand for capitulation. That’s not a negotiation framework — it’s an ultimatum.
You don’t have to support Hamas to recognize the imbalance here. Durable disarmament in conflict zones historically follows political resolution and mutual security guarantees, not the other way around. “Either disarm or we resume war” doesn’t sound like conflict resolution — it sounds like preparing the narrative for the next round.
If the goal is stability, the question isn’t whether Palestinians should disarm in the abstract — it’s whether there is a credible, enforceable political endgame that applies to both sides equally. Without that, this is unlikely to produce peace.
Naim is right to balk at the disarmament demands. Israel and the US are not to be trusted at all and the Palestinian cause doesn't rest so long as their land is occupied. Since Israel constantly lies and ceasefire to them means never cease firing, and since the UN will not be the world police because it is aligned with corrupt Israel and the US, it seems clear that the only solution is to crush the Israeli state. Since the US hegemon is crumbling, if the supposed allies in the Middle East would actually stand up for their Arab brothers, they would not be losers by crushing Israel. The US is becoming very suspicious of the power wielded by the deceitful Zionist state, and this might be the beginning of a new world order, the so-called multi-polar world. The middle east powers, lacking the rabid Zionist dog, would be re-aligned with BRICS and other nations. Free Palestine!
Guess what? Sensible humanistic solutions are discarded like trash by those Zionists.
They are akin to White Suprematists. No one else matters.
Too TRUE for both groups which is why it is especially important that the International community step in to assure peace and humanitarian aide and begin serious and significant economic boycotts of Israel and those companies in USA and all other nations that support both the Isreali and USA economies.
There is no international community to step and do anything.
The UN: forgetaboutit. The The International Criminal Court : same.
No real power, only that which is respected by the Western leaders/countries.
The West has seen domesticated by the Zionist Regime.
I am waiting to China, Russia and Iran to level us down.
The way Germany and Japan got leveled down: DEFEAT!
Military defeat.
Good Bye: new World Trade Center area.
Actually. I would like to request they only bomb Red States. Not NYC.
Leveling the playing field ( literally) may not help much but think of economic boycotts of USA buisnesses by their consumers. One month long boycotts - no one buys a new phone, gets noticed. Anything one can do to resist. The Palestinians have been resisting for 100 years. and continue.
Do not be a "good german".
We have to figure out how to live in this world when it's being run by criminals.
Karen: your name? Very cool....What are you??

I would have suggested the same thing. Let's make it happen.
The best I can come up with to correct history. If people can grasp it, its fundamental rightness, then the rollback of hasbara and the vile project which spawned it can commence.
Ok, William: this is for you.
If you haven't stumbled across this yet....
A fellow with a Fulbright to study and photograph the Bedouin people...Author is Ron Kelly...this is his study of the Israel’s Bedouin...https://ameu.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/vol31_issue4_1998.pdf
He also photographed Jews in Israel and as a result his work was rejected. We can guess why.

Finally, it is on youtube ....It's like getting a Master course in material hidden from those not Jewish.

The most recent interview is a showstopper: Joel Kovel: He had studied everything and knows everything. NOT an exaggeration.

Because this is 15 years ago, and many of those interviewed were seniors, most are gone. One has to wonder what they would say now....
