After withstanding a decade of sanctions, Venezuela’s communes are prepared to face Trump’s illegal naval blockade and U.S. plans for economic asphyxiation.
Looking at how well tarifs worked against Canada we can expect that the sanctions against Venezuelan will promp the people to rally around their leadership and the US will again become the force that united all of the Venezuelan people.
Those are inconvenient aspects of the Christian religion that most US politicians claim to believe in. They only believe in the parts of the Bible that are convenient at the time they are preaching them.
"Ahora es de todos!" My one and only trip to South America was to Venezuela in 2006. I remember the courage and determination of the people in the communities that I met. They were so inspiring. Viva Chavez. Viva Maduro! Viva los pueblos de Venezuela!
Countries from Mexico to Patagonia need to be united with their own version of the Monroe Doctrine. Unity is becoming necessary, absolutely essential for the Global South.
President JD Vance continues to succeed at fooling people into believing Donald Trump is really calling the shots - or, that Mr Trump as any ideas on administering a legitimate government for purposes other than total self preservation. Donald Trump was never meant to be more than a Trojan Horse and a wrecking ball to implement the ideas put forth over a quarter century ago in Project for a New American Century. President Vance along with his own handlers in Silicon Valley, Israel, Russia, the global dirty-energy cartel, the Christian Industrial Complex and the entirety of the GOP appear poised to jettison Donald Trump in the near future, as his once popular cult-like following dwindles symmetrically with his usefulness as a weapon of mass distraction. Trump's days running cover for the true powers of our time are coming to a close. His usefulness to those who benefited from him doing the dirty work is drying up, but they'll certainly milk whatever they can through the sunset phase - including one final atrocious act: choking Venezuela into submission with our taxpayer funded military. And in the aftermath, President JD Vance and his international entourage will all say the same thing: "It was out of our hands, there was nothing we could do - he was crazy". But they'll certainly keep the spoils.
in a long term view, every time the u.s. sanctions another country, they do it a favor in the sense that they breed self-subsistence and make it so the country eventually doesn't need to be a part of the post-brenton woods economic order established by the anglo empire. the situation is similar in iran. but then of course, the spoiled imperial brat throws a tantrum and declares a war. unless the u.s. simply resorts to nuking large swaths of the world, there is a zero percent chance it can handle adding venezuela and iran to the list of wars its already waging. add china to the mix and we're in for a hell of ride.
A naval blockade, tanker seizures, and open claims to another nation’s oil are acts of collective punishment and piracy, not diplomacy. This article powerfully shows how ordinary people are forced to organize just to live with dignity under U.S. economic siege. No country should have to prove its right to exist by surviving strangulation.
Worst caricature of the evil Yanqui Imperialist won’t play well anywhere in the Americas south of the Rio Grande. Look for more solidarity south of the border and more help from China. We are committing economic suicide, and our inevitable demise is well deserved. Yanqui go home!!!
Thanks for this post.. it is important to hear that Venezuelans are prioritizing their sovereignty and defending themselves with self sufficiency against colonization.
No wonder the trump administration admires putin. They are trying to emulate him as well with war crimes that make the bush administration look like diplomats of the highest standard.

Hmm.... Communal agriculture also might be a solution for US food cost and distribution problems.
Thanks for the helpful overview on Venezuela.
Brazen, morally bankrupt, and illegal by any standard !
Extrajudicial killing = murder. Thou shalt not murder. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's oil.

Trump's bellicose actions are NOT in America's best intrests.
First, thank you for this great article and second, for showing US another option for production -without middlemen.
Nothing has changed since the 50s, it seems; still after the oil. Operation Iraqi Liberation all over again and Congress is sitting on their hands.
We are in deep dooduh.
