in a long term view, every time the u.s. sanctions another country, they do it a favor in the sense that they breed self-subsistence and make it so the country eventually doesn't need to be a part of the post-brenton woods economic order established by the anglo empire. the situation is similar in iran. but then of course, the spoiled imperial brat throws a tantrum and declares a war. unless the u.s. simply resorts to nuking large swaths of the world, there is a zero percent chance it can handle adding venezuela and iran to the list of wars its already waging. add china to the mix and we're in for a hell of ride.

Trump's days running cover for the true powers of our time are coming to a close. His usefulness to those who benefited from him doing the dirty work is drying up, but they'll certainly milk whatever they can through the sunset phase - including one final atrocious act: choking Venezuela into submission with our taxpayer funded military. And in the aftermath, President JD Vance and his international entourage will all say the same thing: "It was out of our hands, there was nothing we could do - he was crazy". But they'll certainly keep the spoils.
