This reminds me of the time when Duvalier still ruled in Haiti. I was just getting to know the community here (New York) and have remained deeply involved in it since. Studies were done to determine the why of the Haitian community's relative lack of organizing against the regime. Fear for family in Haiti was the strongest reason. Transnational repression has a history, but I would bet it's stronger now, given advances in communications technology. Thank you for this very significant investigative reporting.
