The Platner news reminds me of Al Franken.

Dems deserve to lose since they only like to back mice with no warts.

As a woman I do not consider Platner to be a “rapist” who is a danger to women.

This info I am sure is not as cut & dried as we hear & based on the testimony of a woman who actually had a relationship with Platner, admitted he was drunk at the time & didnt even remember what transpired. This does not excuse him, but also shouldn’t be the deciding factor in who will fight for Maine in the Senate.

And with all the rapist Republicans we do have in office, Dems need to stop the purity tests. IMO Platner is the ONLY one that has inspired a real message & following.

Your reference to Al Franken reminded me that Sen. Gillibrand was the lead and early voice calling for him to step down. She has been one of the staunchest supporters of Israel, along with Schumer. I expect to see the establishment wing of the Democratic Party seek to replace Platner with a candidate of their ilk. Stephen King has been one of the only influential voices to say he should not drop out.

So why don’t we hear an uproar about Susan Collin’s choosing a rapist as Supreme Ct Justice? In that role he continues to deny women the human right to healthcare and enables the impunity of dear leader.

Of course. A serious populist, down to earth, straight talking, not a DSA fantasist, seems headed toward the Senate, and a five year old incident suddenly appears so that the Democratic Party, including its fantasy wing, can prevent him from taking the seat that Downeasters want him to have. I heartily agree with HulitC. Our elections do not need to be stolen at the ballot box, we don't have to worry about fake voters or prevention of legit voters......when the political establishment is united in making sure that candidates who might be a serious threat to their game never get on the ballot. Yes, we are much more civilized that the Israelis; at least we're not assassinating them all.

The problem with discussions prior to this accusation against Platner is that too many of our journalists gave him a pass for the doubts we had about him. As if there were no other candidate. As if the questions journalists might ask of him would make no difference to voters in Maine. For example, Sirota went full-on in support of Platner and his interlocutors just let him. See Medhi Hassan for how to interview a candidate, and the candidate's promotors.

Progressives need to get behind Cori Bush and make sure that AIPAC has no role in the midterms. I love her, she was a beacon for justice in the House and we need her back.

Lebanon, Libya, Yemen. All countries with internal resistance entities and outside supported “legitimate” governments. All tied into Israel, the US and rich oil countries meddling.
