Thanks, I'll check it out. BTW: Roatan, an island with the best snorkeling...there were no restaurants...one had to find out who was cooking, then you went to their house and had rice, beans, fish. ..... probably a couple of bucks. Now, cruise ships unload tourists. ...sad for the fish and coral. I was lucky to spend time in places like that....now they are all easy, clean, safe and ...over.

Yes Roatan has been taken over by multinational corporations & equally tragic & unacceptable are the resort corporations that ciontinue to take long-held land from the Garifuna people.
OMG. For Honduras, I guess the island of Roatan is safe...compared. The population can be controlled to keep out the bad guys.
I studied the Garifuna people after being there. They were never enslaved. I think the slave ship they were being carried in wrecked so they ended up in St. Vincents and eventually they made it to Honduras. The Happy Land Social Club fire that killed 90 of them was in a building Jay Weiss, who was married to Kathleen Turner, managed. My daughter worked for Jay and her name was on the lease. as a witness. Later, she was being sought potentially to sue...but, she had left NYC so they didn't locate her. Crazy NYC. Ordinary people like me have extraordinary stories.
PS: a person I met here went on a cruise that ported in Roatan...I saw a picture of the ship: disgusting! In those waters?? You couldn't pay me to go on a cruise. The way I traveled was the exact opposite. No safety. Now, one has to go to very remote hard to get to places to avoid the tourists.
