"…in a popular uprising, …."

"…has killed over 28,000 people and driven 14 million from their homes in the largest displacement crisis in the world. Famine is spreading across the country and hundreds of thousands are on the brink of starvation."

Seems to me to be more likely to be "popular" with protagonists of "causes" than with the people actually paying the price. I'm not a fan of many political "the ends justify the means" arguments. In this case, as with many others, it seems like a mob variant of insanity.

As a species, we seem destined for a short-term record of presence on the planet. If anyone remembers us, it will be for the most egotistical species that existed prior to an inglorious extinction.
