The pattern here is pretty hard to ignore. Trump announces "GOOD AND PRODUCTIVE CONVERSATIONS," markets rally, and then Iran's foreign ministry, parliament speaker, and a senior official all independently say the same thing: nothing happened. That's not a miscommunication — that's a fabrication.

What's most telling is the timing. Heavy bombardment of Tehran the night before, then a Truth Social post about "great talks" that conveniently walks back his 48-hour ultimatum. Bessent is out there calling sanctions relief "jujitsu." These aren't the moves of an administration that's winning — they're the moves of one that's desperately trying to manage bond yields and oil futures while a war spins out of control.

"We're dealing with the man who I believe is the most respected leader" — and he won't name him because he'll get killed? That's not diplomacy, that's a tweet written for CNBC's opening bell.

Drop Site is doing important work here. The rest of the press needs to stop stenographing White House spin and start asking: if talks are going so well, why can't a single Iranian official confirm it?

I believe Iran, sadly.

Trump in the first 10 months of 2024: "I'm not going the start a war. I'm going to end wars." According to the "Washington Post," our deranged and increasingly demented Hitler wannabe lied an average of 21 times per day during his first 4 ruinous years in the White House. AND YET, IN YOUR STRATOSPHERIC STUPIDITY, AMERICA, YOU STILL CHOSE TO BELIEVE HIM. Thomas Jefferson said it best: "An ignorant people can never remain a free people."

'“Under this doctrine, enrichment activities at levels required for national needs will continue, either independently or in cooperation with China and Russia.” Oh, so that turned out well then. I think everyone could have predicted that - apart from the war criminals in the Israeli government and the genius in the White House.

And to the point of this reporting - no. There's no chance in hell Iran is negotiating with these monsters. They have absolutely no reason to. The US and Israel will just keep acting in bad faith - until a hard truth is learned. Past actions prove that. I get the feeling Iran is in this for as long as it takes to set some actual boundaries on Israeli and US aggression in the region. This one will be very painful for my fellow American's who hold dear a bloated and unearned sense of global supremacy. Pride turned to dust. Invincibility, vaporized. "Number 1" straight to the back of the bus..

Trump is full of it but I wonder if the Marines are still coming?

For sure. At least a 50% chance Trump is stalling, awaiting their arrival. We should all, by now, know that when they arrive, the impaired POTUS will be enthralled with their arrival and will want to use them.

Excellent, essential reporting, as usual!

So ... when do we blame Iran for the Northstream sabotage ?

The lies. Iran would have had a nuclear weapon in 2 weeks or a month ?

Every country in the world considers Iran a threat ?

I concur with "It's me" - also, I watch Aljazeera to get "more truthful" news.

From my non-expert perspective it sure looks like Iran gained the upper hand early on in this completely unnecessary catastrophe. And it sure as hell doesn't look like that's going to change. Iran appears to take strategy as a way of life, as opposed to the deeply held fallacy here in the US that assumes one can spend their way to victory. I also don't know what "victory" even looks like here. No one does. It's almost like Trump and Netanyahu should never have thrown the entire globe into chaos in the first place. But, power hungry men have historically stuck their tiny pp's wherever they want, whether it's in children or hornet's nests - or both.

I wonder how much Treasury Secretary Bessent made on oil in the last 24 hours. Brent crude went down more than&20/barrel, overnight.

If he traded the $120 a barrel just before Trump

claims he’s negotiating peace— he and likely others in the regime made a lot of money.

Brent is now $98/barrel.

BBC reports that the US is Not negotiating w/ Iran.

Trump may well be looking for an off ramp. It's quite possible that talks are going on that Iran doesn't want the world to know about. On the other hand, it could all be part of Trump's handling the news with whatever he wants to put out.

This will be very painful for humanity. Zealots never admit they are deluded. Monsters and demons rampage at will.
