Very valuable reporting -- details to understand what is actually driving the behavior of the parties. Thank you.
Seems to me, Iran will have to be exceptionally skilled and careful in order to counter the Israeli argument of self-defense. Self-defense when you are occupying and advancing in a country that is not your own is not self-defense to my ear. Nevertheless, as Israeli soldiers are killed in their aggression, self defense becomes a sound byte that "the west" will glom onto, as we saw over the weekend.
Israel is transparently evil, but its unclear that Hezbollah is causing them any regrets in their military adventures. To say that Hezbollah is inflicting serious losses on Israel when 30 soldiers are killed, over a period of time when civilian casualties in Lebanon are more than a magnitude greater...about 130 to 1, according to the numbers in the article, is wishful thinking. Their arrogance hurts them.....then cannot give any honest person a credible story that their aggression is in any way a matter of self-defense, which attitude continues to turn the whole world against them.
In common with all totalitarian movements, Zionism is incapable of reaching an equilibrium, but must conquer or die. This recognition is slowly dawning on Americans, but the last to accept will be our corrupt AIPAC salaried Congress, even after Trump has been forced to recognize the reality.
What strikes me most in this reporting is how clearly it exposes the lie at the center of Israel’s narrative. You cannot claim a ceasefire while bombing families returning to their homes. You cannot speak of “security zones” while occupying dozens of Lebanese villages in open defiance of the very agreement your own allies just signed. And you cannot call this self‑defense when the targets are bridges, hospitals, rescue crews, and people trying to rebuild what’s left of their lives.
The families in Nabatieh aren’t “returning” so much as refusing to surrender their dignity. They go back because they have no other choice — and because they understand something Israel and Washington still pretend not to see: sovereignty is not negotiable, and no memorandum means anything while a foreign army sits on Lebanese land.
If this war ends, it will be because Israel is finally forced to withdraw, not because it suddenly discovers restraint. Until then, Lebanon is being asked to endure the impossible — and doing so with more courage than any of the governments claiming to speak for its safety.
For its entire existence since 1948, Israel has been a cancerous growth in a region of the world that's incompatible with the European Jewish colonizers. And of course, governments of a few key western nations have greatly assisted this rot. The organized political arm of the Jewish community - The Jewish Lobby - is what makes it possible, by bribing those western governments and brainwashing its citizens. To get an idea of the enormity of this lobby, take a look at the number of Jewish political organizations that make up this lobby, with some 400 just in the USA. AIPAC is only a drop in the bucket compared to the entire lobby, which is the most effective single-issue political force in the history of the planet.
Israel is a property developer like Witkoff, Kushner, Trump. Leveling Lebanon/Beirut "Paris of the Middle East" is a way of life, particularly if the people living on land they slobber for are not white, nor suntanned disguise. Whatever the Nazi's and Mussolini confiscated; whatever lands confiscated in the OT, Israel=DARVO/nimbi. Wherever & whenever they kneel to Mammon, their heel plants a spike.
Pure unadulterated concentrated evil.
I agree with Istvan. Israel is the criminal in all of the Middle East.

Israel's plan for security is simply a huge swathe of uninhabited rubble adjacent to the Israeli border all around Israel (Jordan so far excluded).
