Establishment Democrat or progressive champion? Interesting and telling how these accusations always occur just prior to the election. Margaret from Progressive Victory already going after a possible replacement while wearing a Medicare for All mask. Something feels off.
First of all I am not at all affiliated with Progressive Victory just sharing information that I found. Get your head out of the sand and stop defending abusers! There's still time to pick a viable candidate who can withstand scrutiny and beat Collins.
"Men are so stupid." That's a sentence I hear every time I see a friend of mine. She says, "Who rapes, beats their wives/girlfriends, starts wars, likes fights, sniper shoots children (the IDF), kidnaps children to abuse them, abuses animals, and so on." Some women are that way, too (Hillary Clinton for one; she cackled with glee when she killed Gadaffi), but when they are, they act just like men. And, of course, not all men lead with their penises. I'm sorry that Platner raped a woman, but that act is unforgivable.
We began asking our contacts on the ground in Maine about Troy Jackson earlier today after seeing many suggestions that he should replace Graham Platner against Susan Collins.
In our discussions we have received troubling information about not only Jackson's behavior, but the behavior of many prominent Maine Democrats toward women more broadly. Both as a result of the credibility of the sources and in the interest of not seeing our movement make the same mistake twice, we are choosing to share some of this now.
As Maine Senate President in a state senate caucus meeting several years ago, Troy Jackson in a heated disagreement struck a female colleague with a bottle he threw at her. There are many witnesses, and it appears this is a widespread open secret within Maine politics and not an isolated incident.
The bottle throwing did not apparently derail Jackson's career despite it being known. Unless it was specifically aimed at a woman because of her sex, it is not at all the same situation as a previously unknown rape allegation. I know apples and oranges routinely get mixed up in politics (and political reporting), but I hope this does not happen in this case. We should to have faith in Maine voters. They seem to be better than average.
So... the only reporting that alleges Platner raped someone is from Politico... owned by an extreme pro-Israel parent company, Axel Springer, which requires its employees to uphold five core values, one of which is explicit support for the State of Israel & Israel's right to exist.
Why did the girlfriend go "to her bedroom" if Platner's sexual intentions were unwanted by her? This is my honest question and reply to what is written in this article by Bernard.
I believe Platner recognizes the present state of affairs as the price he is paying for his honest efforts to help our country now.
Many people have made mistakes - all of us - and events that are really co-creations - turn out to load the blame on one party or sector and thereby further conventionalize our collective thinking. I so wish we were farther along the road to loving kindness than we are.
Great. Pull Jackson's phone and email and bank records for the last six years, make sure he hasn't talked to any corporate lobbyists, done any insider trading, been wined and dined by AIPAC supported campaign contributors. Wall St. was a lot more worried about Platner than they are about Mamdani.....they know Mamdani has a price, they just haven't figured it out yet.
I am encouraged that something good may come from this. The organization built around Platner's candidacy could serve as the springboard for a more sustainable political movement that could elect candidates at various levels in future elections. Politicians come and go. They are a necessary evil. We have become accustomed to a candidate focused politics. We need to replace it with a constituent based politics.

This information is still developing and we will

I am slightly less despondent.
