Thank you Mr Barghouti for your contribution to this discussion it was insightful and powerful.I feel nothing but admiration for the strength and commitment of the Palestinian people to their independence despite the fact that they have been up against the most powerful nations in the world who appear to be too frightened to negotiate a humanitarian end to the genocide they have participated in for 76+ years. They are frightened because the Palestinian resistance is a global example that resistance does work when people are united in a common cause. The Palestinian example is one that will be remembered globally especially as we will all need the strength to oppose the already well advanced progress to fascism. I know of a family of 8 Palestinians who would like to leave Gaza and live elsewhere but have to pay US$ 5000 each just to get out, then they have to fund their living expenses and get approval to migrate to an Arab country. One of the family members is a teacher and a trader . He has a job offer in Kuwait that he cannot take up due to the conflict and the fact that he does not want to leave within all family members. Our Australian government .has been complicit in the actions taken by Israel and the US , which has been very disappointing to say the least.

I'm very sorry to hear that the Australian government has been complicit in this horrendous human tragedy. The only Western governments I am aware of that have pushed back are Ireland, Spain, and Belgium. The rest of the Western powers should be condemned by the ICC for participating in this genocide.

Just like the u.s. & israel, australia is a white supremacist state built on continuous genocide against the people who were living there before european colonizers arrived. Not sure why people would expect anything better from there.

Exactly. Although, I prefer settler colonialist, not because white supremacist isn't true, but because it is inaccurate. Many supporters of settler colonialism are not white, and many white people do not support settler colonialism. And, even settler colonialism obscures the real truth, that the war is actually by wealth and privilege waged against poor people they consider inferior. This explains Clarence Thomas, a black man of wealth and privilege in the US, clearly siding with the "white supremacists" against the poor of America.

Read Australian journalists John Lyons (Balcony over Jerusalem) and Antony Lowenstein (My Israel question, The Palestine Laboratory) to know the pro-Israel lobby is as strong or stronger in Australia than America. Aussies strongly believe in fairness and helped (eventually) break apartheid in South Africa. It's a multiracial society that has its problems but it is FAR more tolerant and cohesive than the US and most 'western' countries. Most politicians are cowering to Zionist 'victims' and Murdoch but informed Aussies are absolutely outraged by this genocide.
