In 1999 Grace Halsell, Texan Christian, wrote "Forcing God's hand .. Why millions pray for a quick rapture and destruction of planet earth". Described as "A great expose of the strange marriage of convenience between the US Christian Right and Israel. ... They use one another. It's not about religion but about politics.".

Described as "A great expose of the strange marriage of convenience between the US Christian Right and Israel. ... They use one another. It's not about religion but about politics.".
Grace's conclusion after much enquiry and searching was ..."Each of us can then chose to define the character of our Creator, electing to follow a God of war or a God of universal peace and love." Halsell of course chose the God of Love. She is a heroine of mine, and I'm a male-god rejecting atheist, and a woman who believes in male/female equality.
It would be good if the Pope and other prominent religious leaders truly rejected the destruction of Palestine, but I think there's a big split in Christian thinking which has allowed this outrage to happen and it's not being confronted.
