“We have repeatedly reiterated to Graham Platner’s team that they have no role in determining our next Democratic nominee for the U.S. Senate, nor in determining what this process looks like.” Pretty arrogant dismissal of all the on the ground work done by all those volunteers. Leave it to the Democratic Party to undermine “We the People”. Don’t see how this statement by the MDP could be any worse.

Dem leaders/consultants in this country are arrogant to the core and I am sick and tired of it. The past decade proves their arrogance is not going away and until they start backing progressive candidates that won’t answer to corporations and AIPAC, they can take their donation requests they send to us and shove it up their 🫏! The grassroots in Maine have spoken, time for Dem leaders to wake the 🤬 up!!!

Couldn't agree with you more, Bryan.

I would have to agree with Toth and the volunteer group they built. They were backing policies, not the man himself. Who knows what they knew about Platner's personal STRUGGLES? AND WHY CAN'T MEN KEEP THEIR DAMNED PANTS ZIPPED???? WE ARE NOT CHIMPANZEES FOR HEAVENS' SAKE. WE ARE SUPPOSED TO HAVE BRAINS. USE THEM!

What this moment makes plain is that the power in Maine didn’t vanish when Platner withdrew — it shifted. Fifteen thousand volunteers didn’t knock doors, build teams, and turn out record numbers because of a personality; they did it because of a platform. The Party can pretend that infrastructure is transferable, but the people who built it are telling them, clearly and publicly, that it isn’t. If the nominee wants the movement’s energy, they have to earn it by adopting the same commitments that produced the largest grassroots operation in state history. That isn’t a threat. It’s the reality of democratic organizing.

My progressive family in MA is appalled with the Corporate Dem Party and finished with their tactics. This last minute plot led by a Republican claiming rape and other charges by women are indeed serious. We also believe in the rule of law. Innocent until proven guilty. Platner confessed as a veteran to the horrors of war which led to drug and alcohol abuse. Another plot to keep Collins in office.

I have read a great deal of criticism about the Maine Democratic Party - I am afraid I agree with Toth, it only makes sense to include the huge network of volunteers that was so instrumental in the success of the platform of Platner - no matter what, a Democrat MUST win
