What if any, are the Great Power interests at play? Do the Americans or Chinese or Russians favor one side or the other?

And which nation(s) could possibly serve as mediators or host efforts at diplomacy?

El‑Obeid is being pushed into the same abyss the world already watched swallow El‑Fasher. The pattern is unmistakable: siege, starvation, the deliberate destruction of the systems that keep civilians alive. What’s happening here isn’t “collateral damage”—it’s the method. And the silence from those with the power to stop it is becoming its own form of complicity.

Useless UN, fuck the UAE and their genocide committing RSF terrorists.

I will never accept this as humanity's status quo. History may lean otherwise, but the past is always exactly one half of the present. The future is to be **made**, not some pattern that must be repeated. We could do more with our privilege than the simple pursuit of convenience - we have a priorities problem here in the protected world.

That is tremendous journalism, thank for addressing Sudan. I need a good history lesson on the conflict and why there is genocidal activity towards the Nubians

An appalling situation. What's the point of the UN if they don't act?

The United Arab Emirates, Israel’s partner in the middle of east, also committing genocide. Why?

I am so sorry for the civilians caught up in this war.

Thank you for your reporting about this. The situation there is simply horrifying. I agree with others, the UN, the way it was set up originally, is mostly useless, amounting to window-dressing, nothing more. Sad but true. It has failed time and again to protect the innocent and prosecute the guilty. It must be greatly strengthened--I have no idea what would have to happen to bring that about, or if it's even possible--including reforming the charter so the security council does not have permanent members with veto power. Security Council membership should be rotated yearly among all countries using sortition. And the Uniting For Peace mechanism should be able to override the Security Council. Or, failing such significant reforms, a new worldwide organization should established and the UN disbanded.
