There is no or little acknowledgement of recent secular/socialist movements and revolutions which have influenced and brought about what rights we now have. Religion has played a very dubious role in a lot of struggles. I lived in South Africa for a year before apartheid was smashed. The Dutch Reformed Church was pro apartheid and played a horrendous role in that country. Many many similar stories abound.
