I think the problem is that people don't seem to realize that Trump is only a minor escalation in America's reign of terror. We have been visiting horrors upon the world for our entire existence.
According to some (who I agree with), in the entire existence of America we have had 17 years of peace. We have done little in Central and South America but send in death squads to murder civilians who had the audacity to think that they own their natural resources.

I know a lot of people are scared about what may happen tonight based on Trump's threats to annihilate Iranian civilization. I am also concerned. But I think for the moment we need to look beyond the insane, and **illegal** rhetoric coming from the White House and focus instead on known quantities.
Trump has a proven record of escalating violent ultimatums only to back away as deadlines arrive.
Iran has a proven record of clearly conveying how they will respond to certain attacks. Iran also has a proven record of following through. They say what they're going to do, and they do it.
Serious and credible people in positions of power throughout the globe understand these facts just as well as I do. I'm in no position of power. I'm about as pedestrian as Americans come. In other words, if I can see the factual pattern, people with a lot more to lose can definitely see it.

Security Council to vote on Bahrain’s Strait of Hormuz resolution: The United Nations Security Council is set to vote **Tuesday** on a revised resolution drafted by Bahrain addressing freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. The updated text “**strongly encourages” interested states to coordinate “defensive” efforts proportionate to the circumstances to safeguard commercial shipping through the Strait, explicitly including the naval escort of merchant and commercial vessels, and to “deter” any attempts to close, obstruct, or interfere with international navigation through the waterway.**"
After all, the calculus must be that if Iran is "obliterated" Iran will in turn obliterate the middle east. This will obliterate the global economy.
I believe this is ultimately what Trump is holding over the head of both Europe and GCC states in order to get them to join in Trump's and Netanyahu's failed war on Iran.

I expect China and Russia would veto the resolution and anyway, someone should point out that Israel has ignored more than seventy (I think - but I lost count a long time ago). Maybe Iran could offer to open the strait to all traffic in return for Israel honouring every resolution ever directed against it ... then the Iranian delegates would walk away laughing sarcastically.
