Invade Iran ? Picture the opening scene of "Saving Private Ryan".

I always hear about the brave soldiers who "defend" us and, somehow, save our freedom and democracy by starting wars. Is that defending anything ?

I grew up on Air Force bases. Graduated HS in 1968. Several boys I went to school with died in Viet Nam. I STILL don't know what they died for. Others lost legs, arms, eyes. What were they defending ? Was Viet Nam going to attack us ?

How was our democracy and feedom at risk. The "story" - there's always a story - like the Iraq WMD and the Iran "2 weeks from a nuclear weapon" ... we were saving the world from communism. We had to defeat the Viet Cong or communism would spread like falling dominoes. Scary !!!

Didn't happen when we LOST. Iraq had NO WMD. Iran stopped their nuclear weapons program in 2003 and the most intrusive IAEA and other inspections suffered by any country never found any weapons program.

The current status reveals that the U.S. has lost the war that we began at Israel's behest.

Trouble is, we have two mad men who will not accept that reality: Trump, a narcissist, will do dangerous things (sending more troops now) only so he's not seen as a loser; and Netanyahu will bomb the hell out of Lebanon, continue the ethnic cleansing in Gaza and the West Bank, because, well, he's just evil.

It was an immoral war we launched, and we're fortunate that Iran has turned out to be the moral party that is avoiding escalation. Who'd have thought that!?
