This proposal by Hamas, of course, is rejected by the United States of Israel.

I hate to sound so cynical, but I don't believe the US negotiations as led by Trump's envoy Witkoff or Israel have any genuine interest in stopping this genocide. This is a land grab by the United States of Israel via a genocide. How disgusting and deplorable is this?

I am afraid I agree. They want war, endless war. I wonder how much of Hamas’s proposal will make it to mainstream media.

I predict a permanent cease fire within days. The tide has turned. The world has seen what Isreal and the USA are all about. This genocide has opened many an eye. All the military power in the world well not turn the tide. Palestine has won.

It is time for Hamas and Palestine to either quit the negotiations with the current group or quit hoping for good results from them and instead focus on developing a strategy with a group of major supportive countries that will insist upon and put in place the conditions needed to end the genocide and occupation and begin to actually implement the 2 State Solution now. I have many well developed suggestions for how this could be effectively done. Action needs to be taken now so that the international community can show Israel and Palestine during the June UN peace conference that they are serious and are truly going to do what is needed to end these atrocities and truly support peace in the region and real security for all peoples in the Middle East. Do you have any idea on how to get the over 140 Illegal Israeli Settlements out of the West Bank and 12 illegal Israeli Settlements out of East Jerusalem? Currently there are over 700,000 Israeli Settlers living in these illegal settlements. Israeli scattered these illegal settlements in a way that makes it impossible to give the Palestinians a contiguous peace of land for a Palestinian State.

High-level Israeli officials are openly acknowledging that they are expanding settlements (22 new settlements announced in May) to increase Israel's control over the area and prevent the establishment of a Palestinian state. Israeli administrative control over Area C (60% of the West Bank) is also increasing. Israel and the U.S. government have no real interest in any kind of long-term ceasefire arrangement or two state solution. I firmly believe that Israel (and the U.S.) feel like now is the time to proceed with total/near total annexation of Palestinian lands. They are more than willing to weather all the criticism and accusations from other governments as well as the charges from the international courts (which will likely amount to nothing). Though many of us are expressing our outrage with all of this, there are too many influential people in this country who are choosing to remain silent. I believe with Rob's comment above that the idea of the US brokering any legitimate solution is unlikely and that some other countries need to work together to actually make something meaningful happen. Also, the US will never acknowledge that Israel is an apartheid state, which really dilutes any chance of us (the US) affecting any positive, long-term change.

I also saw that Israel is planning to build 22 new illegal settlements. Israel is at least honest as to why the 22 new illegal settlements were approved. This does prove that the US and Israel have no interest in a two state solution.

Mahmoud Khalil is still behind bars. He told the court: “I spent a good time of my life fleeing from harm, advocating for the marginalized to have rights. That's what put me in danger. Israel is committing genocide. America is funding that genocide. Columbia is investing in it. That is what I was protesting. This is what I will continue to protest. This is what everyone should protest. This is where our efforts should go.”

Petition for the immediate release of Mahmoud Khalil.

While I totally support what Mahmoud has done, as should we all, we have to go far beyond that now if we are really going to respond adequately:

I've said it before and I will say it again: If you trust anything that comes out of the mouth of Bibi, Witkoff, or Trump, then you are dumber than a box of rocks. And written on a piece of paper makes it no more valuable. The US cannot be a neutral party; they have been on Israels side all along, supplying weapons, ammunition, intellegence (boy is that a misnomer), and money.

Again, clear, concise and honest by Jeremy.

Hamas, knowing full well that both Netanyahu and Trump will not negotiate truthfully, placed a proposal on the table that perfectly illustrates this fact. It is a reasonable proposal that is rejected out of hand simply because it is reasonable. Witkoff knows full well that the negotiations have entered a phase, one that cleasrly displays the hypocrisy that is rampant in absolutely everything Israel says/does and the US endorses. If I was Steve, I'd demand a raise... in gold.

How can this be possible? The US, which is supplying all the weaponry, finances, and logistical support so Israel can continue the mass murder of Palestinians, and Israel, the one carrying out the genocide, are the two parties in charge of the "ceasefire negotiations." That's what is unacceptable here. Madness.

We call on the newly elected, US, Pope Leo XIV to do whatever it takes to save Gaza and stop the bombing, and end the starvation. Let him go to Gaza and stand with the suffering people who are being massacred by Israel and the Western posers. Is there anything more important in today's world than this?

Continuing the war is Netanyahu’s get out of jail card. There is no plan acceptable to him. If the US continues to arm Israel (above appropriate needed defense, if at all) how serious is the US position. I sent a letter to President Biden expressing this in March 2023. If Trump can do what Biden did not I would have to give him credit though I despise all else of the current Republican regime.

Kudos for writing letters to our government. I'm sure they immediately filed it under "X". But your point of Netanyahu's only interest being to stay out of jail is the key one. It's incredible that not every single news report starts with a reiteration of that.

The only agreement you can make with genocidal Israel and American maniacs is a suicidal one. Hamas should make no agreement at all with the twin murderous white supremacist colonizer nations of the US and Israel because they will immediately subvert it and resume their genocidal onslaught. Any agreement they make will only be designed to trick Hamas into releasing hostages, as they have ALREADY done. Once bitten twice shy, as they say!

able to try him and maybe put him in jail.

To know more about The Hind Rajab Foundation, there are a couple of really good interviews that Glenn Greenwald did on his Rumble platform, and Ali Abunimah of the Electronic Intifada, did with the head of this organisation, Dyad Abou Jahjah. It was very informative.

Agree. Israel and Trump are playing a game. Both Israel and the US Empire (owned by the extremely wealthy, Trump & Netanyahu are their employees) want Gaza empty. They want to build the Ben Gurion Canal, and gain access to the Gaza Coast oil and gas fields. And maybe save the dollar. It truly is an evil plan.
