While I totally understand the sentiment of withholding in your vote because of Gaza it is ultimately foolish virtue signaling, especially in a swing state. With a Harris win there was a sliver of hope but Trump is a big fan of Netanyahu and no doubt wants to get in on the building boom on the new Gaza waterfront. This is not to mention all the other horrors that will come from Trump round 2. It is a very odd way to punish the Democrats.

I don’t get it! (see my earlier argument) Murder and genocide; crimes against humanity! And you consider taking a position against these atrocities “foolish virtue signaling”. A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, the United States tried and executed German and Japanese officials doing similar. A “vote” is about something; or at least that is what I have understood it to be. Voting for the lesser evil is at best groveling for scraps. Kamala Harris made it clear that she supports murder and genocide. At Neuremberg we stood against murder and genocide, now we stand for it.

I heard this line of thinking constantly during the election, and was consistently talked down to which prevented having a dialogue about it. We were told how we had to vote, but our concerns were never assuaged and thus our votes were never earned. A party that parades around the notion of "democracy" while ignoring voters and shutting out people we disagreed with was a bad look.

Biden and Harris needed to signal that there was merit to that campaign strategy. Incumbents already have executive power. But the last year showed us there was no credibility in their words.

If a party is unwilling to respond to feedback, then intentionally getting blamed is a way for a voting bloc to show that they have enough power to be taken seriously.
