In one sense I can't argue with your claim about the tail wagging the dog. OTOH, I tried a thought experiment the other day, and well you try and let me know what you think.

If all the Zionists, and Israelis became pacifists, declared peace and gave up their battles and settled for equal justice for all in Palestine, do you think the USA would lay down its arms, and act any differently in the Middle East, or in the rest of the world?

What's your verdict?

Whoa! (or woe!), I fried too many brain synapses thinking about that one! My thought process: Israel, the Epicenter of Evil in the world in its own right, is also an acute manifestation of its partner in crime, the American Empire. Unlike its patron state, Israel’s aims have thus far been confined to the theft of Palestine, and the pursuit in neighboring lands to the establishment of a “Greater Israel” (although what’s so great about the present Israel?) or what they refer to as “Eretz Israel” (gotta be a typo, surely they meant “Ersatz Israel”).

The U.S., in contrast, has been more global in its adventures for conquest over the past 200 years or so, well predating its pact with Israel, whether overtly (wars) or covertly (subversion, extortion) on every continent, save Antarctica (well, that needs to be fact-checked). Along the way we also came up with the military-industrial-complex, proven to be immortal, impossible to kill off.

My conclusion: the American Empire would merrily continue along its well-trodden path in its promotion and defense of liberty and democracy abroad, until it sets off World War Last.

Interesting question. I think the U.S. has been addicted to arms manufacturing -- and arms sales -- for decades now and it will take more than the Israel-Palestine conflict being resolved for such a radical change. I mean, we sell arms to about 100 countries now. From our own State Department: "In FY2024, we oversaw 16,227 Foreign Military Sales cases with an open case value of over $845 billion."

So, am I hopeful about our nation "laying down its arms"? Actually I do hope and pray for that. I also think it will require a major peace movement, a return to old-fashioned diplomacy and statesmanship, and a strengthening of the United Nations as a peacemaking and rule-of-international-law agency.

Why is the USA alive now or if not selling weapons, making war, in order to become The Empire of the World! And by any means necessary: subterfuge, bribery, destruction, mayhem and murder. I hope someone or some group is planning a serious resistance that inspires and brings together the people of the world to act.

Absolutely! The US used to have many friends in the Middle East, as did Britain, until we became the bully backing up Israel's campaign of ethnic cleansing and land theft. Israel has long deformed US foreign policy until our State Department has basically been made over into an adjunct of Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
