Perhaps the Gulf of America, formerly the Gulf of Mexico, should now be redesignated the Gulf of Israel?

It's amazing that now the "tail wagging the dog" phenomenon is complete as pro-Israeli -- and formerly Israeli military -- officials are deeply embedded inside the foreign policy halls of our government.

Add to this that Google just "bought" for $32 billion dollars an Israeli tech company, leaving most Israeli executives in charge, and Microsoft provides tech support for the Israeli military, and many other such interconnections.

Israeli interests -- not American interests -- drive our foreign policy and censor our speech regarding criticism of Israel.

I'm still grateful that Trump waved off Netanyahu's long-standing dream to have the U.S. attack Iran.

In one sense I can't argue with your claim about the tail wagging the dog. OTOH, I tried a thought experiment the other day, and well you try and let me know what you think.

If all the Zionists, and Israelis became pacifists, declared peace and gave up their battles and settled for equal justice for all in Palestine, do you think the USA would lay down its arms, and act any differently in the Middle East, or in the rest of the world?

What's your verdict?

Whoa! (or woe!), I fried too many brain synapses thinking about that one! My thought process: Israel, the Epicenter of Evil in the world in its own right, is also an acute manifestation of its partner in crime, the American Empire. Unlike its patron state, Israel’s aims have thus far been confined to the theft of Palestine, and the pursuit in neighboring lands to the establishment of a “Greater Israel” (although what’s so great about the present Israel?) or what they refer to as “Eretz Israel” (gotta be a typo, surely they meant “Ersatz Israel”).

The U.S., in contrast, has been more global in its adventures for conquest over the past 200 years or so, well predating its pact with Israel, whether overtly (wars) or covertly (subversion, extortion) on every continent, save Antarctica (well, that needs to be fact-checked). Along the way we also came up with the military-industrial-complex, proven to be immortal, impossible to kill off.

My conclusion: the American Empire would merrily continue along its well-trodden path in its promotion and defense of liberty and democracy abroad, until it sets off World War Last.

Interesting question. I think the U.S. has been addicted to arms manufacturing -- and arms sales -- for decades now and it will take more than the Israel-Palestine conflict being resolved for such a radical change. I mean, we sell arms to about 100 countries now. From our own State Department: "In FY2024, we oversaw 16,227 Foreign Military Sales cases with an open case value of over $845 billion."

https://www.state.gov/fiscal-year-2024-u-s-arms-transfers-and-defense-trade/

So, am I hopeful about our nation "laying down its arms"? Actually I do hope and pray for that. I also think it will require a major peace movement, a return to old-fashioned diplomacy and statesmanship, and a strengthening of the United Nations as a peacemaking and rule-of-international-law agency.

Why is the USA alive now or if not selling weapons, making war, in order to become The Empire of the World! And by any means necessary: subterfuge, bribery, destruction, mayhem and murder. I hope someone or some group is planning a serious resistance that inspires and brings together the people of the world to act.

Absolutely! The US used to have many friends in the Middle East, as did Britain, until we became the bully backing up Israel's campaign of ethnic cleansing and land theft. Israel has long deformed US foreign policy until our State Department has basically been made over into an adjunct of Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

It's really outrageous that she is in this position. There is no way she can be "impartial". She is definitely NOT the right person for this job. I am sure there are many other "impartial" people that would do anything much better job and care about the "interests " of the US first before any other country.

I was going to reference that familiar line “avoid all foreign entanglements” from George Washington, but evidently he never actually said those words, and his caveat in his “Farewell Address” was far more involved and nuanced than that. So I’ll try another approach, from medicine. What follows is from Mayoclinic.org:

“An arteriovenous malformation, also known as an AVM, is a tangle of blood vessels that creates irregular connections between arteries and veins. This disrupts blood flow and prevents tissues from receiving oxygen. An AVM can occur anywhere in the body, including in the brain.

“Arteries move oxygen-rich blood from the heart to the brain and other organs. Veins drain the oxygen-depleted blood back to the lungs and heart. When an AVM disrupts this critical process, surrounding tissues might not get enough oxygen.

“Because the tangled blood vessels in an AVM do not form properly, they can weaken and burst. If an AVM in the brain bursts, it can cause bleeding in the brain, which can lead to a stroke or brain damage.”

So there you have it, we are experiencing the disruption of critical processes of our government, our society, from the analogous AIM, the American-Israeli Malformation.

A relative has an AVM in the leg. Surgery was attempted to correct it many years ago, but it turned out to be so twisted, tangled, and intertwined that is was deemed inoperable. The only consequences have been to rule out a needed knee replacement and living with that discomfort, and a long scar.

The AIM is similarly inoperable, but its consequences for this country have already been serious, destructive, scarring, and many, and well stand to be fatal.

This is about our national security. The sham of dual loyalty started a long time ago but notably when Jonathan Pollard, the American who spied for Israel was released in 2020 after serving 30 years. He was flown to Israel on Sheldon

Adelson's plane where Netanyahu welcomed him as "a hero." The NCIS officer in charge of Pollard's investigation said that in all his career he'd never seen so much support for a traitor to the US as for Pollard. Extensive lobbying to get him released early. In just a few years Pollard caused $2.5 billion damage to US cryptology (Letters, Economist 8/6/2015).

This is not surprising. The US is thoroughly infiltrated with dual citizenship Israelis and American Zionists (hypocrisy!). This is a big reason administrations have routinely been echoing what Israel wants done. Since Zionism rejects liberty and justice for all for ethnic supremacy, there should not be any Zionists serving in any capacity in the American government yet they are everywhere. Thank you for revealing yet another example.

This will only serve to facilitate the transmission of outlandishly-hawkish communications from the office of Ted Cruz, as Merav Ceren's psychopathic Zionist brother, Omri Ceren, is currently Senator Cruz's ranking foreign policy and national security advisor.

Remember: Apparently, you only need a PhD in communications from U.S.C. (rather than in a relevant field like public policy or international affairs or political economy or political science or economics) and a history of dedicated Zionist & pro-Israel writings to become the top consultant on security/intel/ME issues for a sitting senator.

Just another way the US government supports a genocide in front of the world.

Wrapped in an unnecessary package of details and confusion.

What can SHE bring to the ongoing genocide of those in Gaza?

Why weaponize a country further than we already have?

How is anyone working in the name of Israel and Iran in anyt position to enforce basic human rights? Israel and Iran? Those two words in one sentence is all the warning anyone needs to know serous human rights violations continue and with her? Will continue to hurt families trying to survive in the Gaza. What other motivation can their be but political and financial gain for outside interests at the price of Gazan citizens?
